I'm Fred Blankenship and I am running for
Branch County Sheriff
I bring extensive knowledge to the differing roles within the Office of Sheriff. I have worked several positions within the Sheriff’s Office before being promoted to Captain including Court Officer, Road Patrol Deputy (later promoted to Corporal), Corrections, and a Special Investigator to the Prosecutors Office.
I have received the Sheriff’s Merit Award and Unit Citation. I have numerous training certificates such as Evidence Technician, Field Training Officer, Meth Lab Responder, and Administering the Small Jail from the National Institute of Corrections to name a few. |
I began my law enforcement career at the Sheriff's Office over 28 years ago. During my tenure, I have held several leadership roles under three different sheriffs, including my current role of over 20 years as Captain and Jail Administrator.
Along with my decades of experience, I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Grand Valley State University (1994). I graduated from Litchfield Community Schools in 1989 and am a lifelong citizen of Branch County (Butler Township). My wife, Amanda, grew up in Bronson and is a registered nurse. Our family resides in the 3rd Ward in the City of Coldwater. As your sheriff, I look forward to continuing Sheriff Pollack's initiative and collaborating with County Commissioners to maintain nightly road patrol for the safety of our community, a task I worked on closely with Sheriff Pollack.
Our taxpayers voted to build a safe and state of the art jail and I pledge to be a great steward to ensure it is managed and maintained properly far into the future. I have exhaustive knowledge in budget planning negotiations with the County Administrator and have helped Sheriff Pollack maintain what is the largest section of the county budget in a fiscally responsible way. |
I ask for your support to lead the Sheriff’s Office into the future and I look forward to this opportunity to serve the community as your sheriff.
